The Roadmap - A Guided Partnership
The Roadmap is a program that helps people and small/medium sized organizations find their purpose and align it to what they want and how to get it. It's a process of combining best practice business tools, a community of subject matter experts and what I've learned from 40 years of global education, executive leadership and successful entrepreneurship. The outcome is a person or organization excited about what's next and how to achieve it.
A roadmap is a timeless way to get from where you are to where you want to go. It starts by gaining a better understanding of, "self", resources and community and we proceed with conversations, excercises and projects that lead to the skillsets we all need to accomplish our goals.
Most of us think we know who we want to be and what we want to do. We want to get started. But we don't know how. So much of our lives gets mixed up in a swirl of internal and external influences; parents, personality, school, culture, skill sets, friends, hopes, dreams and fears.
Roadmaps takes you on a detailed path of discovery using specific tools, processes, conversations and projects. You start by learning more about who you are and why you want what you want. Then you learn specific tools and processes to help you achieve your goals and sustain your progress. We collaborate using proven techniques from business, academia, philosophy, art and mindfulness. Throughout the Roadmap, you will be improving your relationship to yourself, others and the world.
"Will took me on a journey of self discovery by introducing the concept of "Why?" and the Ikigai. I learned that my attitude and feelings about my start-up idea are as important as the idea itself. Ultimately it made me realize that as a Creative I have a lot of ideas. I'm good at communicating those ideas. But I don't want to build/start them myself. I want to release my ideas into the world and let other people enjoy or profit from them. " Andre C.
To achieve anything in life, we need to learn from other people, experience new things, experiment with ideas and shared knowledge.
At any age, who we know helps us become who we want to be. Introducing ourselves to others and learning shared journeys is central to that.
There is nothing like being with others to learn how the world works, to put your own life in perspective and to get excited about what's possible. This event is open to everybody on the roadmap and is joined by other mentors, networking resources and guest speakers.
None of us knows what we don't know. I love helping people network and find new opportunities to learn and earn. I use my global and local network of professionals in dozens of different industries to help connect people with opportunities.
The journey is winding but the goals have always been the same: 1) Learn about the world 2) Learn about myself 3) Create and 4) Share progress with others.
I grew up back and forth between Mexico and the US with artists, poets, teachers and entrepreneurs. I learned to appreciate differences. I learned to navigate the world. I learned to see things differently and to value the power of potential. I learned eternal optimism in the face of my own challenges and from the kindness, generosity and hardships of others.
I had a learning dissability. I struggled to read and I was anxious and scared. I felt smart enough but it wasn't obvious in school. Countless people helped me. They changed my life. I attended an elite boarding school, studied in Greece and Spain, graduated with honors near the top of my university class at USC and received an academic excellence scholarship to get my MBA in International Business. I was honored to receive several corporate leadership awards and I was on Shark Tank. None of that was obivous at the bottom of my 3rd grade class.
From artists to business leader,s I'm inspired by the people who see things differently and try to positively shape the world. It started with my study abroad in Greece when I was introduced to Aristotle's trilogoy of Mind, Body and Spirit. Most recently I'm inspired by Sam Harris, Brene Brown, Joseph Campbell, Eckart Tolle, Joseph Goldestien, Ray Dhalio and others.
If you love what you do and why you do it, you'll never have a job; you'll have a passion. I started my first company in college, interned at the US State Department, started another business in Mexico City, held a senior leadership position in a global company, helped create 3 US Patents, founded a start up that was featured on Shark Tank and now teach University level International Business, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Professional Development.
FAMILY -
I have two daughters, Harper 15 and Grace 10. They are the love of my life, the source of my greatest joy and most humbling moments. Harper and I, "off grid" homeschooled for 15 months during COVID. It was one of the most unexpected and beautiful experiences in my life.
ADVENTURE -
Whenever I list my values and priorities, adventure is always on the list. It started as a kid day dreaming about sailling across the Atlantic Ocean. By the time I was 22, I'd sailed across it 3 times. I became a private pilot when I was 20 and I've studied, lived or worked in over 20 countries.
